John Smetana

	John Smetana Jr., 71, of Belleville, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002 at his residence.
	Mr. Smetana had been a truck driver for the Teamster's Union.  
	He was born September 11, 1930 in DuQuoin to John Smetana Sr. and Marie (Marie) Smetana.  He married Billie Dean Cremer and she preceded him in death.  He then married Anna Lorraine Gaston and she preceded him in death.
	Surviving are a special friend, Lola Berhens; five sons, John (Linda) Smetana of Houston, Texas, Stephen (Annette) Smetana of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Charles (Michelle) Smetana of Houston, Texas, Thomas (Barbara) Smetana of Germany and Chris (Lynn) Smetana of Brighton, Ill.; one daughter, Kathy (Mark) Tullock of Freeburg, Ill.; brother, Frank Smetana of St. Louis, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives and a brother, Rudolph Smetana.
	Funeral services were Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home in Belleville.  Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery in DuQuoin.	
	Friends called Sunday at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home in Belleville from 4 to 8 p.m.
	Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, American Lung Association or Leukemia Foundation.
